This thing has been going around Facebook a lot lately. Figured it’s just easier to post it once here. Ta da.
1. I collect owl related stuff obsessively. Yay for owls!
2. I’m allergic to feathers, yet I have this strange compulsion to want to touch feathers. They’re so soft. But then my hands are itchy! ARGH.
3. At one time I seriously considered becoming an aerospace engineer. Even was accepted into a program for it, being a math geek and all. Funny, I can’t even balance my checkbook now. :P
4. I have bent pinkies. Genetic thing.
5. When my brother was born, I asked the doctor to put him back where he came from. I wanted a sister. Had no use for a brother at the time. :P
6. I am a recluse. (with a capital R)
7. My eyesight is perfect for working on a monitor. My eye doctor told me that people ask for glasses to get my prescription just to make it easier to stare at a monitor. Go figure.
8. Speaking of eyes…growing up, my brother and I were often told by random strangers how odd they thought our eyes were. They’re just eyes people. Sheesh.
9. I have a web tinkering addiction. I get lost in formatting things on websites to the point where I lose hours at a time. Plus, it helps calm me when stressed.
10. I grew up at West Point which at times felt like something out of a 50s sitcom. I spent much of my youth hiking in the woods, lounging on cannons, or being hounded by MPs.
11. I have a habit of taking apart old, broken electronics just to see what they look like inside…stereos, computers, VCRs, etc.
12. Every time I catch either Enemy of the State or Shawshank Redemption on TV, I feel compelled to stop and watch, despite having seen both movies tons and tons of times, not to mention owning the DVDs. I can’t help it. It’s like it’s programmed in my brain now.
13. Reading was my worst subject growing up. I had a hard time with it. Numbers were my thing. It surprised everyone when I ended up majoring in English in college. I still read much too slowly though. Bleh to that.
14. When I was a kid and had reading assignments for school, my dad would make me sit where he could see me reading while he practiced his bassoon. Otherwise I wouldn’t read. Now, when I read, I sometimes hear a bassoon playing in my head.
15. My favorite job ever was working at Bear Mountain the summer after 8th grade. We cleared deer trails and fixed shelters. I got to debark a tree with a machete. We also took liberties with swimming in all the “no swimming allowed” lakes we could, of course. That summer I learned that I’m freakishly strong for a girl. (surprisingly it never helped with gym class and that damned flex arm hang :P) I slung around 80 pound bags of dry cement like they were nothing.
16. I am sooo a country girl. Working in the city and living near it like I do now? Oy! I miss the woods!
17. I wrote the first two books of a trilogy I’m working on listening to Coldplay’s X&Y. I’m branching out into other Coldplay stuff (like the new Life in Technicolor) when I write now. Hah. Okay, I occasionally toss in a little Iron & Wine or The Shins, but mostly it’s all Coldplay all the time. :)
18. I am an X-Files fanatic (phile is the term :P). At the Expo years back I got to meet Dean Haglund (who is awesome and really freaking nice in person) and Nicholas Lea (who was a total jackass). I only acknowledge the existence of 7 seasons of the show.
19. Lately, I have been working on reintroducing myself to Algebra for fun.
20. I’m a reiki master and teacher although I haven’t started practicing it yet. I also read tarot cards and hope to have a new age style business some day.
21. I tend to talk too fast. When I’m nervous, Speedy Gonzales mode goes into overdrive. Good luck understanding me. :P
22. I was born pigeon toed. When I’m really really tired, you may notice at least one of my feet slipping inward as I walk.
23. When I’m that tired, my eyes turn green. They do that when I’m really sick too.
24. I love mustard and am particular about what kind I eat with what. I usually have at least 3 varieties in my fridge at all times.
25: When I’m at work, I’m often listening to the miniseries Taken while I work. And as I’m writing this I’m wondering why the hell I don’t listen to X-Files too? Duh. I need to rectify that immediately of course. :P
