Vanishing in the Digital Age

That image is the from of Wired Magazine‘s December issue. I’m months behind on reading them, but that blurb caught my eye. How easy is it to disappear in today’s age with digital imprints so easy to leave behind. And really, who hasn’t thought about disappearing and starting all over at least one time or another? This also reminds me I need to start using Tor. :P

In this particular case, writer Evan Ratliff attempted to vanish for one month. He and Wired ran a contest to see of people could find him. It’s a little harder to hide with an army of coders and investigators tracking behind you and hacking through your life—especially if you keep logging online to check what the hunters are up to.
