I saw this writing prompt on the Writer’s Digest website:
You return home from work to find a Dear John letter on your kitchen table. Oddly enough, it’s from one of your favorite pieces of furniture. What does the letter say?
Sounds fun. Enjoy!

I messed up on this template last time by using paper that was too thick. I have thinner paper now so I thought I’d try again:
I made a lot of mistakes. The paper still seemed a little thick. I think I’m starting to like folded templates less and less because of that. :P I’ll have to try it again. And I have to laugh. In this video, Cindy talks about how it took her an hour to cut this one out.
One hour? Sheesh. Try hours for me. Hours! Luckily I had a few episodes of Chuck running while I worked on this. Although…now that I think about it, I wonder if watching TV is too much a distraction. Hmm. Well that’s just absurd! It can’t possible be a distraction. :P
If you want to give it a try, download the template. It’s fun.
Woke up in the mood for some music from The Killers, and so I share. Enjoy!

I got a new humidifier (yes, a frog! :P) and I set it up on a footstool to make sure it didn’t leak. Ruki was fascinated by it. She sat like this for a really long time. I kept imagining that she was explaining the rules of her household to it. “The window is mine…that box behind you is mine…the pillow…mine too…well actually, it’s all mine…”
Eventually, her attention was called away to the important matter of claiming the new empty box.
Eep! The flash made her eyes all freaky looking. :P
Amusing. :P League of STEAM has a great new video up:

A new Simon’s Cat is up! I only noticed today. I’m slow. :P
Simon’s Cat ‘Snow Business’ (Part 1)
A curious cat discovers snow for the first time.
The war against the bed has resumed. I still don’t know what the bed did to warrant such attacks but I’m certain whatever it was, it was dastardly!
Here’s how it starts, she wraps her arms around the side, then slips into crazy kick mode.
This goes on until the bed gets the upper hand by flipping over her (the nerve!), causing her to dart away toward safety. Then she glares and readies to stalk and attack again.
I’m so bad at getting pics of her doing this though. I’ve only been able to capture the first part of it. As soon as she sees the camera she stops and stares at me. Then she acts like nothing was going on and slips into her “I’m the most bored creature ever” pose. Apparantly my cat is about as photogenic as I am. Go figure. :P
I started the evening out lounging with a stack of comics. Somewhere along the way I got the idea in my head to practice some scherenschnitte. Eh…I picked a complicated pattern for the paper stock I have on hand. I wasn’t thinking about how I had to fold it in half to create the design. You can see what happened:
I wasn’t able to cut all the way through. Not only that, I didn’t even score the paper in spots so there was no way for me to tell where I should cut. I could guess, sure, but that would defeat the point of a mirrored look.
Part way through I realized what was happening and tried to compensate by pressing harder. All I did was hurt my hand, ow!, and make the root-like pieces fatter than they needed to be.
Oh well. There you have it. Pay attention to your paper stock. :P I need to get some thinner stuff now!
Hah! These are great. The Vork Unbreakable Bank is the best! The turn yourself into a cartoon ad that keeps popping up is annoying though. Sheesh. Go away already.
Anyway, watch through to the end for 6 options to click on. :)
