One last paper cut for today. For this one I used a template of the Mayflower, only I didn’t do the year that was listed on that ship in the original. I like it better without them. :)

I think next time I’m gonna have to change some things to pirate it up and make it more interesting. :P

Try the template out yourself here.

I tried out two paper cut templates today:

Skinny lines are so hard! Especially when you don’t have a steady hand, which as you can see I do not. Something to work for though. I’ll have to try again… :)

Arcade Fire just released their video for “The Suburbs“:

Video is by Spike Jonze. Enjoy! :)

This morning I made French toast sticks. It should be a simple task. Toss sticks on aluminum foil, then into the oven. Turn on oven. Then put aluminum foil and left over sticks away. Seems I got lost on that last part:

This is not where frozen French toast sticks go. :-/ Over an hour later I discovered them when I realized I’d left the aluminum foil on the counter. Eh, soggy to say the least.

What’s sad is I’ve been doing things like this all week. Can I rest yet? Nope. Have yoga in a little while then errands to run. But maybe, if I’m lucky, I can pass out this afternoon. :D

An amusing short film created by Kyu-bum Lee:

Death Buy Lemonade from Cartoon Brew TV on Vimeo.

And here’s the Leica reel which is fun to see too:

I tried out one of Cindy’s recent scherenschnitte templates from her blog. This one is of Cinderella. I created mirrored versions of her and positioned them slightly off-kilter on the scanner. It kind of makes me think of two women just out doing their laundry. Then crazy birds try to steal it away. :P

You can download the template to try out yourself here. :)

Today I made my first pair of steampunk earrings. :) Woo-hoo!

I followed a how to featured in Steampunk Style Jewelry by Jean Campbell. This particular project is titled “Gearrings” and the design is by Jen Hilton. You can see by the picture what they are supposed to look like and how mine came out. I had to substitute a few pieces since I was just using what I had on hand. What I learned? Looping wire into a figure eight is really freaking hard. I can’t seem to make pretty rounded edges. It ended up more like a lopsided triangular object, contorted in the middle with a twist, hidden by a bead. Heh.

That’s that. I think I’m going to make something out of an empty pocket watch next. :)

Have a happy day!

A little music for your Saturday morning:

Enjoy! :)
