Tomorrow would have been Jim Henson’s 75th birthday. *sigh* Bridget McGovern wrote an excellent post on Tor.com about him that you should go read. Go, read it now >> I’ll wait.

It made me very nostalgic and made me cry too. I suspect it did for you too, right?

And check out what Google Doodle will have up in honor of the day tomorrow:

I may have to rewatch some of Henson’s work tomorrow to honor the day in my own way too…

Ran 2 miles nonstop today. Yay! Kinda feel like I’m gonna die now though. Heh. Damn humidity. I really need to go shopping this weekend for some better workout clothes. Not only are all mine cotton (which means they are sucking up all the damn water from the air) they are easily 2 to 3 sizes too big. So yeah, drowning in cloth. Hah!

Plus, my new sneakers gave me a blister on the bottom of my foot. There is some weird bump in the shoe that I didn’t notice when I got them. I’m gonna try tossing my Crocs insoles into the shoes next time and see if that diffuses the feel of that stupid bump. Here’s hoping that works.

But all that aside, here it is day 7 of running and I made it 2 miles! Sure, it took me forever. 29 minutes. But I made it. :) At this point I’m either going to have to pick up some speed or get up a hell of a lot earlier if I want to try to run any longer. Still have to make it to work on time and all… :P

On another note, I really hope I adjust to this running thing soon. I’ve been so tired this week that I pass out super early. Last night I zonked out at 9. 9!!! That meant I got no homework done and I’m behind. Oy. this weekend I’ll have to do some serious catching up.

The other thing that’s been happening is that I’ve been freakishly hungry. I get so hungry I feel like I’m going to pass out if I don’t get food and actually can’t function until I find something to eat. Odd. Aah well, I still think it’s all worth it! :)

That’s that. Think I’m gonna go pass out now. Hope you have a wonderful Friday!!

This is adorable:

During a routine scan on a distant planet, a young space scout finds romance with a female pilot. But when peril strikes the two star-crossed explorers, he must face what lurks in the darkness of the planet to rescue the girl.

Almost to a week. Though, had I not skipped Tuesday, today would have been day 7. Oh well. :P I only ran a mile today. The humidity is brutal! I swear my clothes sucked in 10 lbs of the moisture if not more. I felt like I could fall over any moment. And the air itself was soup! I expected to see Alphabet noodles float by. No suck luck though. Heh. My joints hate me today too. At least I was running in new sneakers so I’m sure that helped! But wow, really wasn’t prepared for the humidity. At least I ran some though! :)

The carnival is still in the background and will be all weekend. The attractions are more opened up today. I didn’t take picks because it was so damn sludgy out. Maybe tomorrow. Though, it’s supposed to rain now for days. Not sure how the carnival will do any business with that going on. Boo!

Oh well. I’ll probably still try to check it out.

And that’s that. Hope you have a wonderful day!

I ran a one and a half miles today nonstop! Woot! And look, a sleeping carnival:

It was so odd driving up to the track and seeing this. So of course I had to run on the track that looped around it. It’s eerily quiet and wonderful! There are trailers all around it that I imagine folks are passed out in. Bet it’ll be buzzing tonight. I may have to go check it out.

It was fun to have as the backdrop and I got lost inspiration for a story while I was running so yay for that! Can’t wait to write it now! :)

I also had a chance to test out a new stick and am loving it!

It’s been an awesome morning so far. Hope you have one excellent day! :)

The Killing Joke is a short film that pays homage to 70s horror films. Ascetically, I found it fun to watch, especially the ending balloon scene and the closing credits. That scene starts at 12 minutes 40 seconds minutes in. The girl in this did annoy me some though. I mean really, you turn and see an evil clown at the end of the way and you just stand there? Uh huh. Evil clown has machine gun and again you just stand there? When you finally do run, you fall down, and just lay there? Oy. Where is your brain woman? Is that how women were in 70s horror flicks? I forget.

I’m not sure if the title is another homage to Alan Moore’s, The Killing Joke or not. But there is a similarity in that a clown makes someone have a very bad day.

The making of is pretty nifty to see:

Hope you have a great day! ie, one where no maniacal clown is pestering you :P

Some music for your Monday morning. “Du Monde Tout Autour” by Louise Attaque. I like the animation. It’s by Louis Clichy. Enjoy! :)

Today was the first day of trying to get a run in before work. I woke up before 6 and couldn’t get out of bed. Oof, it was just too hard and I was so sore from yesterday. And my arm felt like lead. Ruki tried to help by thwacking me in the face with her tail. Didn’t work. Heh.

Finally a half hour later I rolled out of bed and made my way to the track. I figured with as sore and tired as I was this morning that I would have a horrible run. But, I ran a full mile nonstop! No walking at all! Woot! It took me about 15 minutes to finish it. Sure, not fast, but for a day 4 of starting this running thing, I’m happy with it. :)

Yay!

I even rewarded myself with hitting the warmup wall with my lacrosse ball again. That was so pathetic though. The ball seemed to graviate toward the hole. *sigh* I have to try to find a new stick today if I can!

Hope you have a happy day! :)

Oh no! I went back out today to toss the lacrosse ball at the warmup wall and in the middle of playing, the ball shot right through the strings! Eek!

This pic is kinda funny though with the way the light struck a glare over it. Makes it look like the light burned the hole right in. :P

Anyway, I got my stick back in ’93. So yeah, it’s old. I could restring it but the stick is pretty beatup. I will probably just get a new one and cut that one down to match this one’s length.

Man, I need to get a new one right away though! I’m itching to get back out there. Killed my arm today though. Can barely lift it now. So I guess giving it time to recover while I get a new stick isn’t the worst thing. But I can’t wait! :P

Today is gorgeous out. Look at this sky:

I didn’t run as long as yesterday. My legs are really sore. I just ran two intervals. Eight minutes, then walked a few, then ran nine more minutes. And that was all I could do. Legs are just too sore. Going to do some yoga later hoping to stretch them out even more. But I ran for longer amounts of time for each interval so that is something. Only a couple minutes longer, but I’ll take what I can get. :)

My happiest moment today though was getting to spend some time at these warmup walls they have set up outside the tennis courts. Luckily they have 1 hour time limits set because I had to wait a bit for a turn, but it was so worth it. I haven’t tossed a lacrosse ball around in years. I missed it SO much!

I didn’t use my full hour. Only half of that. I killed my arm in the excitement. I was just having so much fun that I kept throwing the ball as hard as I possibly could. I missed catching a bunch of them but was surprised at how many I was able to catch since it’s been so many years. I’m so glad to have found this wall! I will be there as often as I can be! Woot! Only thing that would make me happier is if I could play on a team again. Aah well. At least I have the wall. :)

Have a happy day! :)
